What is Cosmetic Tattooing?

Micropigmentation is a semi-permanent cosmetic makeup for creating and defining eyebrows, eye-lining and full lip colour.

I use safe tattoo methods to insert natural pigments into the dermal skin layer. Micropigmentation is very popular within the beauty industry because it allows anyone to look (and feel) their best - especially us busy folks.

Why would I have it done?

Cosmetic tattooing can help by filling in the area to frame and balance the face. Lip tattoos create a soft colour and contour 24/7 so no worrying about smudged lippy!

  • Shape and lift your eyebrows

  • No more use for a brow pencil - define sparse brows

  • Create a more natural look than what makeup can achieve

  • Hair stroke techniques help create softer looking brows

  • Permanent Make Up is a great solution for contact lenses wearers, physically or visually impaired people and alopecia sufferers.

  • Cosmetic enhancement is popular and suited for young adults through to elderly people.

How long does it last?

The pigment is expected to last from one to three years (depending on procedure, pigment colour used and the individual). Gradual fading happens during this time. During the ageing process (the natural lightening of the skin and hair), the fading of the pigment means you can adjust the pigment colour with each re-touch.

Is it painful?

I do my very best to make the procedure as comfortable as possible by using 2 types of anesthetic and modern techniques for minimal pain.

What should I do to prepare?

Ensure you don't drink alcohol the night before. No caffeine on the morning of your appointment. Ensure you don't have any contraindications to the treatment which include pregnancy, breastfeeding and blood thinning meds.

What can I expect to feel afterwards?

There may be temporary swelling and redness in the area immediately afterwards, so plan your treatment around special occasions. This usually calms within 24 hours. You can expects the colour to look deeper for the first 4 days then soften as they heal. You will receive aftercare instructions and product to help with the healing. Flaking can occur between days 4-7 and is usually over in 24 hours. It's important to not sweat, swim, wear makeup on the area, use retinol products or be in direct sunlight until the flaking has stopped.
